As a contact raw material, AgSnO2 is used in relay, contactor, air switch, current limit switch, micro switch, domestic electrical appliance, and so on.

At abroad, there are contact manufacturers, such as AMI DODUCO, METALOR, UMICORE, Toshiba, etc. And the former three ones are the main suppliers of contact materials in the word. In 2016, METALOR was taken over by Japan Tanaka. In China, the research, development and application of contact are in the stage of fast development. The difference between Chinese products and products of foreign leading companies becomes less and less.

There are a lot medium and little manufacturers of contact materials in China, most of which are privately owned, take some market share and possess single type of products. The minority of the manufacturers is short of technological staff, falls behind in production equipment and possesses outdated management. About ten manufacturers have scale production and are strong in technology, including Fuda Alloy, Longsun, Wenzhou Hongfeng. Leqing city at Wenzhou is the largest production, sales and export base of low voltage electrical apparatus in China, where there exist many AgSnO2 manufacturers with advantages in transportation, market and after-sale service compared to AgSnO2 manufacturers at other places in China.

AgSnO2 is supplied for enterprises of low voltage electrical apparatus. China market of low voltage electrical apparatus grows the fastest in the world. In recent years, the output of contact materials keeps increasing, so does AgSnO2. In 2016, the output of AgSnO2 in China was about 290 tonnes. In the next few years, due to the increasing demand of low voltage electrical apparatus in power transmission and distribution, contact materials will be increased stably too. With supports by the development of power construction and restructuring, intelligent manufacturing, automobile and economically affordable housing to low voltage electrical apparatus industry, contact material will be driven forward intensively, and the demand for AgSnO2 will be larger as well.
