Because graphite is of fine resistance to high temperature, thermal shock, and fine conductivity, lubricity and plasticity, and chemical stability, it is widely used in steel, chemical industry, electronics, aerospace, national defense and military. Due to its wide range of applications, experts foretell the 21th century will be one of graphite.

According to researches, the proved reserves of graphite around the world is about 230 million tonnes, mostly located in China, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, and India, among which Turkey has the largest reserves with 90 million tonnes. In 2015, the output of graphite was about 1.21 million tonnes in the globe. While in China, the output was around 800 thousand tonnes, making the country with the largest output.

Since world economic environment becomes better, especially graphite is more used in the development of low-carbon energy, the demand for graphite will be larger and larger. In China, products in graphite industry are transformed from low-end to high-end. Graphite in China will be higher in quality, finer in property and cutting-edge in technology. Modern high-end deep processing of graphite will be a bright spot, as well as one of important means of China graphite manufacturers into the global market.
