For the present, there exist over 30 enterprises working in global NMR spectrometer market, led by three enterprises, which are Bruker Corporation in Germany, Varian Medical Systems, Inc. in the US and JEOL Ltd. in Japan.

NMR spectrometers, an important instrument widely used in life science, material science, public safety, etc., play a significant role in various fields, including scientific research, education, production, information, health and human life. While in China, NMR spectrometers are mostly imported from foreign countries, accounting for 90%. Main suppliers of the spectrometer are Bruker Corporation and JEOL Ltd. and the former one takes about 90% in the total import and 80% market share. As for domestic manufacturers and research institutes, there are Shanghai Huan Tong Science and Education Equipment Co., Ltd., Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc.

At present, the total amount of NMR spectrometers exceeds 300 units in China. Along with increasing demand from downstream, in 2016, sales of the spectrometer reached about 120 units. Besides scientific research, the spectrometer is also applied in inspection organizations and manufacturers of medicine, chemical and food industry. Since China has released a series of supportive policies to the spectrometer, it is estimated that the demand for the spectrometer will continue its rising trend, although the growth speed is of uncertainty. In 2022, the demand for the spectrometer is forecasted to be more than 210 units. And the market pattern is forecasted to remain as it is for next few years.
